Discogs Mix 031 - De La

De La is one of the finest female DJ's ever raised with thirty years of experience. From block parties to night clubs, she has a given talent for music that seems to amaze the crowd when she plays her first record. Born and raised in Chicago’s formerly known Stateway Gardens and Robert Taylor Homes, De La began her passion for music at the age of eight while growing up under a talented family of artists and musicians. She inherited her passion for music and utilized her skills to become a DJ. Her love for all genres of music inspired her to become the DJ she is today. It started with her personal collection of records and hand-me-downs given to her by her father. De La has always had an ear for good music and has used her ability and skills of mastering sound to achieve the highest level of respect as a female DJ. Being persistent at what she does as a DJ has taken her to higher expectations and has led her to perfection. De La has held residency at some of Chicago’s clubs, Empowerment Zone (2011-2012), The New Comfort Zone 2002-2003), Club Aqua (2000-1999), and the Hidden Lounge (1999-2001).
Today De La shares her skills with youth by teaching them how to become a DJ. She works as a consultant at Master Mix Academy teaching students ages 8-18 the relationship between DJing, visual arts, and music production. She teaches by using one on one hand experience with basic operations of digital and analog equipment. With all the skills under her belt, she’s setting more goals to go further in life and taking her love for music to the top.
